Day 18 - Copy Cat

Think of a person you admire, real or fictional.

Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, Lord chancellor to Henry V111.
It's certain qualities he possesses that I admire, as a person he was probably a git.
  • What quality of theirs do you most admire?
    • His ability to see the whole picture as well as being able to concetrate on fine details. An incredible organisational ability and no fear of any challenge. And he could also keep an egotistical psycopath of a king sweet.
  • What do they do that allows you to know they have this quality?
    • Undertake the most ambitious tasks with absolute precision and confidence, up until the divorce, of course.
  • How do they carry themselves?
    • Having only seen paintings and read descriptions, with a lot of pride and self-assurance.
  • Do they have particular gestures that communicate this quality?
    • Using my imagination i would guess - a dismissive wave.
  • Is there a particular tone to their voice?
    • Apparently he had a bit of an ipswich twang. but that's not much help.
  • How would you describe them in a rhythm? Fast, slow, explosive, silent?
    • I would imagine his rhythm to be a steady, even but deep pulse.

Borrowing a single quality of theirs.

the one quality that seems to trasmit something back to me is the way i would imagine he carried himself.
  • Would this quality be useful to you?
    • Yes, I think so because it comes with a whole raft of all the other stuff that produced it, such as the precision and confidence.
  • How can you make this quality one of your qualities?
    • With practice..although i would have to slightly temper it down a bit. I'm not, after all, wandering about Hampton Court in all my finery. Copying a way of carrying oneself is easier than assuming qualities of mind and personality, although those qualities might leak through in some kind of way.

Day 18 - Copy Cat
1 How did you feel? It's a bit like playing, it does make me feel different - slightly more confident.
2 In what way did you find the challenge useful?
Remember even if the challenge was negative this is an excellent learning for yourself.
I'm not a big fan of role playing, usually, but I can make this work for me, particularly in the half hour walk I have to work of a morning. But i better be careful not to get beaten up cos I don't have the palace guard at hand.
3 What insight did you gain? I'm not sure yet.
4 What did you learn about yourself? I can manipulate my sense of who I am by playing with certain outward characteristics.
