The back garden behind the barns had gone a bit wild. The creek, which acts as a storm drain -siphoning excess water into the river L'Anglin 100 metres away, had not been cleared for decades. It was totally overgrown with brambles and dead or overgrown trees. First off we cleared the brambles and climbers which had swamped the barns and then, bit by bit, hacked away at the wildwood around the creek to reveal a lovely stream. We try to keep on top of it now and have planted crocuses and other woodland-type plants along its bank.
